Since I was a little kid I've tried to write songs. Like any art form, it's had its ups and downs. At each new period, I feel like, okay, this is finally the stuff I want to be writing, but, looking back at the previous iteration, I think, I didn't know what I was doing, and I can't really stand to listen to that old stuff. There are two types of guitarist I have become at two different periods, and my songs became those type of songs. First, in my late 20s, I became a Funk guitar player. Or, more likely, I became a Funk songwriter, and that turned me into a Funk guitar player. Chicken and egg. Then I became what I am now, a Fingerstyle guitar player. That definitely came before I began writing Fingerstyle folk songs. And like I said, that's what I am now. I don't know why I'm writing this stuff, but I guess I just feel like saying it. It's just what's on my mind. It probably doesn't have any relevance to anyone, but nonetheless, it's part of my growing. I want to become so much better of a songwriter. I want to teach songwriting. I want to know everything about it. I will try to share it with you as I learn, and maybe you can learn it, too.
